Those of you who follow my blog know I have spent a considerable amount of time improving my Spanish skills over the past few years. A year ago a conversation wasn't possible, now it is, but there are still loads of embarrassing situations.
I'm a beginner in Spanish and very experienced in marketing, but I still learn lessons from both situations on a regular basis. I've written about some of the lessons I have learned, or reinforced, while learning Spanish.
An important lesson I've picked up? It pays to know your audience.
- Just because someone is a Spanish-speaker, doesn't mean they know the same Spanish you do.
- Just because someone fits your "target audience description" from a research study, doesn't mean they are going to behave the way you expect.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and the Medium article.
